North West High Schools' RE Conference 2024

It is  a great pleasure to announce our annual conference for the High School Heads of RE and their colleagues of our North West Diocesan High Schools. 

We are delighted to introduce our keynote speaker, Dr Kathryn Wright. A leading figure in the world of RE and CEO at Culham St Gabriel’s Institute.

In response to Ofsted’s reports in the subject area over the last three years, Kathryn, along with Deborah Weston (board member of the Religious Education Council -REC), has been instrumental in developing a National Content Standard (NCS). Endorsed by a wide number of agencies, including the Church of England and Catholic Education Service, this provides a high standard of curriculum design and a continuity of quality provision across the country.

During the morning, Kathryn will be sharing the detail and purpose of the NCS and quality professional development for designing and evaluating your own curriculum within your context. She will also spend time addressing the ‘Personal Knowledge’ strand of the curriculum and its overlaps with spiritual development and reflexivity for students.

It is our intention to make this a very useful, inspiring and informative day, with opportunities for networking throughout the afternoon within our own diocesan network and with Heads of RE from the Dioceses across the North West.

Arrival and registration where tea and coffee will be available from 8.45am, with the day starting at 9am. A two course lunch and refreshments throughout the day, concluding at 3:30pm. There is a carpark in front of the house.  Accommodation is available at Foxhill on Sunday evening should you wish to take the opportunity for some time for reflection – you are required to book this directly with Foxhill.
