Co-Hosted by Mark Whitehill, School Effectiveness Officer, Kayleigh Page and Freya Riley, Grappenhall St Wilfrid’s CE Primary School
This will be led by Kayleigh Page, Freya Riley & Katy Blackburn, teaching staff at Grappenhall St Wilfrid’s CE Primary School. Kayleigh and Freya have led on the introduction and embedding of Racial Justice as part of Equity, Diversity and Justice work within their school for a number of years. They also led a workshop about Introducing Racial Justice work in schools at our school leaders’ Racial Justice-themed conference in November 2024.
The online session will be highly practical, focusing on how schools can develop strategies to embed diverse role models and authors within their curriculum. Examples of how this can be developed in different curriculum areas will be discussed, along with demonstrating how impactful this work can be for children’s voice, PSHE strands and how staff confidence can be developed in this area. A key emphasis will be on how this can be effectively woven into school’s existing curriculum work, without it being seen as a separate development. The session will provide support for all schools, whichever stage of development they are at in this area.
